The Russian company “SR Space” announced its project to revolutionize the field of space rockets by developing a new model that is distinguished by its light weight and advanced capabilities.

The company’s general director, Oleg Mansurov, explained that the company’s team of experts has completed the preliminary stages of designing the new Cosmo rockets, which have two stages.

Mansurov stated that the initial design of the Cosmos missile has been completed and that the company is currently developing the Nebo missile, noting that work is underway to develop the dry sections and head protection systems for both models, in addition to the control and communications systems and other necessary equipment, indicating that the company has concluded agreements with several companies. To achieve this goal.

The new Cosmos rockets, developed by SR Space, are powered by liquid oxygen and methane. Each rocket is scheduled to weigh 13.5 tons and is capable of carrying 287 kilograms to an altitude of up to 200 kilometers.

The company indicated earlier that it is working on developing RD-1 engines for use in Nebo missiles, which are characterized by their ability to be launched into the upper layers of the atmosphere and into near space and are characterized by the possibility of reuse.

In 2021, the company carried out a successful practical test of a NEBO missile, which flew a distance of 18 kilometers and reached an altitude of 7 kilometers.

It is noteworthy that SR Space, which manufactures orbital and suborbital launch vehicles (with very small and small payloads) and small satellites, was founded in January 2020, and presented its products at the Open Innovations Forum in 2020.

The company conducted its first flight tests in December 2020 and became the first private company in Russia to succeed in conducting more than one launch per year.

SR Space’s main projects include developing liquid rocket engines, manufacturing launch vehicles, and providing launch services, in addition to analyzing space data, including remote sensing images, and is also developing artificial intelligence algorithms to process and analyze data.
