Russian Deputy Education Minister Denis Gripov announced a record growth in demand for the Russian language study in the African countries in recent years.

During his participation in the Petersburg Economic Forum, Gripov explained that the dynamics are escalating significantly, as the demand for studying the Russian language is witnessing a significant rise in Russian education centers open on the African continent, with great interest from children, adults and from various economic fields.

Gripov revealed that the Russian language center in Algeria has received about 4,000 applications to study Russian in one day since its opening.

According to the Russian Ministry of Education, 37,000 students from African countries are currently studying at Russian institutes, in addition to 200 students in colleges.

Some 30 Russian language teaching centers are currently operating in African countries, reflecting the growing interest in the language on the continent.
