Hebrew media revealed that Morocco signed an agreement with Israel to purchase a spy satellite from the Israeli Aerospace Industries Company as part of a deal worth one billion dollars.
The Hebrew website “Calcalist”, which specializes in technology news, reported that Morocco will buy a satellite for intelligence purposes from the aviation industry for about one billion dollars.
According to reports, Israel and Morocco agreed to the deal at the end of 2023.
According to the “Calcalist” website, in the past few days, the head of the Israeli Aerospace Industries Corporation, Amir Peretz, went to Morocco via a European country to sign the deal, which has remained secret until now.
The company, which manufactures some of Israel’s most advanced missile defense systems and drones, said the deal is scheduled to be implemented over five years.
The Moroccan news websites “Le Desk” and “Le 360 Reported” quoted Israeli sources in Rabat that the contract stipulates that the company will provide the “Ofek 13” spy satellite, which will replace two satellites produced by “Airbus” and “Thales.”
In 2021, Israel and Morocco approved a defense agreement covering intelligence, cooperation in industries, and military procurement.
