Two farmers in West Bengal were struck by lightning on Sunday, killing them while working in the fields.
A 26-year-old man was killed in Tarak Eswar, Hogley district, where he was working in the field in the rain.
In the Jaigata district of North 24 Barganas state, another 38-year-old man died while working in a field.
The Indian Meteorological Authority predicted the formation of thunderstorms in the country, accompanied by lightning and strong winds, especially in northern West Bengal, until next Wednesday, as a result of the cyclonic circulation over northern Bangladesh and the wave of high humidity from the Bay of Bengal, local authorities said.
