The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Libyan National Unity Government, Al-Taher Al-Baour, received the Russian Ambassador to Libya, Haider Rashid Aghanen, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Tripoli on Monday.
During the meeting, the two parties discussed a range of issues and topics of common interest, and the Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed on its official Facebook page that the discussion included ways to enhance cooperation in a way that serves the common interests between the two countries.
Diplomatic relations between Moscow and Tripoli were established on September 4, 1955. Relations between the two countries witnessed a remarkable development after Muammar Gaddafi took power and continued in subsequent periods.
Russia is currently playing an important role in reviving Libya, which was destroyed by the war launched by NATO in 2011.
