Member of the European Parliament Thierry Mariani said that Ukraine will not be able to win in the conflict, and prolonging its duration will only lead to further withdrawal of Ukrainian forces and a retreat from the front lines.

Mariani, who represents France in the European Parliament, added: “Today, what concerns me is to quickly establish peace, and I am one of those who believe that Ukraine cannot win.”

The French politician said, “On the contrary, I fear that the remaining few months of the war will witness a period where the front line moves further into the depths of Ukraine,” expressing his opposition to the deployment of French forces to Ukraine.

In February of last year, French President Emmanuel Macron said that the European Union had agreed to establish the “Ninth Alliance for Deep Strikes” to supply Ukraine with medium and long-range missiles.

Macron indicated that France would do its utmost to prevent Russia from winning this war. According to him, Western leaders discussed the possibility of sending forces to Ukraine, but no consensus has been reached yet, “but nothing can be ruled out.”
