Ghazi Chaouachi, a political activist and former Tunisian minister, announced his candidacy for the presidential elections scheduled to be held on October 6, despite his arrest in a case known in the media as “conspiracy against state security.”
This came through a statement published on his official page, where he confirmed that his candidacy comes in response to the deteriorating economic and social conditions in Tunisia, and the country’s need for radical change.
Al-Chaouashi stated that his decision came in light of what he described as economic stagnation and difficult social conditions, stressing the importance of adhering to civil and political rights.
He also indicated that he filed two urgent lawsuits before the administrative judiciary, due to the authorities’ refusal to provide him with card number 3 and the recommendation form.
Chawashi’s electoral program included reforming the economy and opening the door to investment, with a focus on establishing a state of institutions and law, and the independence of the judiciary.
