Former US Deputy Secretary of Defense, Stephen Bryen, explained that the United States will not agree to negotiations on Ukraine at this time due to the successes the Russian army is achieving on the battlefield.
Bryen mentioned in his article published in “Weapons and Strategy” that the United States is trying to support Ukraine to achieve victories in the war against Russia and increase the number of attacks directed at Russian territories, adhering to President Biden’s condition not to target Moscow.
Bryen expressed doubts about the success of this American scenario, pointing out that the Russian army continues to advance on the front.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a meeting with representatives of international news agencies on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, stated that supplying weapons to Kyiv means the West’s direct involvement in the conflict. He noted that the Ukrainian army cannot use ATACMS or Storm Shadow missiles without Western support.
Putin added that he does not rule out the possibility of supplying Russian weapons to areas from which strikes could be directed at sensitive targets in the countries arming Ukraine.
