Asmahan Balaoun, a member of the Libyan House of Representatives from the city of Benghazi, said that there is a US-British trend to be the next head of the small, unified government from western Libya.
The MP said in an exclusive statement to the Libyan newspaper “Al-Anba” that the competition will be strong between the cities of Tripoli and Zawiya.
Balaoun stressed that the new government will be composed of competencies, and there will be no room for quotas as happened in previous governments, and its main task will be to prepare for the upcoming elections.
The MP pointed to the need to unify the executive authority in the country more than ever, with the aim of uniting the ranks of Libyans, stopping the state of fragmentation and division, and getting rid of the waste of Libyans’ capabilities and resources.
Balaoun also called on the House of Representatives to recognize Benghazi as the second capital of Libya, along with the official capital Tripoli.
