A delegation from eastern Libya will participate in the International Economic Forum hosted by the International Exhibition Center in Kazan, the capital of the Russian Republic of Tatarstan, in its fifteenth edition under the title “Trust and Cooperation”, which will continue until May 19.
The Libyan delegation is headed by Belkacem Haftar, son of Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, commander of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, and also includes four ministers from the eastern Libyan government: Abdelhadi Huwaij, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ali Saadi Qaidi, Minister of Investment, Awad Badri, Minister of Electric Energy and Renewable Energy, and Faraj Khalil Salem, Minister of Technical Education.
On February 19, Belkacem assumed the position of Director General of the newly created Libya Reconstruction Fund, where he leads the main economic structure in eastern Libya, through which development projects that serve the development of infrastructure are supported and identified by attracting foreign companies that submit appropriate offers in the public interest.
Belkacem is the first to assume the position created by the House of Representatives, which includes under his supervision the Benghazi Reconstruction Committee and the Derna Reconstruction Fund and oversees reconstruction projects throughout Libya.
The Economic Forum includes 125 dialogue sessions in which more than 11,000 people will participate representing experts from Russia, OIC and other countries, as well as representatives of government actors in the field of export promotion and investment promotion.
A delegation from the outgoing government of western Libya, headed by Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, is also expected to participate, media sources said, as Russia called on all concerned parties in Libya to provide support to all in the higher interest of the country.
