The Algerian authorities began withdrawing women’s clothing bearing a Chinese brand from the market, against the backdrop of the discovery of carcinogenic substances in these products.
These clothes are offered for sale through online platforms, as they were found to contain substances that cause, in addition to cancer, asthma and other serious diseases.
The Directorate of Commerce in Oran Province, in cooperation with the security services, began implementing comprehensive recalls of all products of this brand on the market, after it was confirmed that there were toxic materials that did not comply with applicable standards and laws.
The authorities have warned consumers of the danger of using these clothes, which pose a direct danger to public health if inhaled or come into contact with the skin.
It is noteworthy that the Algerian Ministry of Commerce previously warned of the presence of clothing containing materials dangerous to human health. In 2019, the Algerian Ministry of Commerce warned against selling women’s clothing containing harmful chemicals, and in 2020, a large amount of smuggled women’s clothing was seized that did not match With safety and quality standards in Algeria.
In 2021, the Algerian Consumer Protection Association warned of the dangers of buying clothes from street vendors, as these clothes are adulterated or contain harmful substances.
