The director of the Egyptian national football team, Ibrahim Hassan, announced the summoning of Mohamed Salah, Liverpool’s English player, to join the Pharaohs camp in preparation for the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

The call-up comes after Salah was absent from the first camp led by coach Hossam Hassan, due to his desire to gradually return to the pitch after recovering from an injury sustained during the last Africa Cup of Nations.

Egypt is scheduled to face Burkina Faso and Guinea-Bissau during the qualifiers, as the Confederation of African Football (CAF) agreed to amend the date of Egypt’s match against Burkina Faso in the third round of the qualifiers.

In the same context, Ibrahim Hassan stressed the confidence of the technical staff in the possibility of postponing the surgery of Omar Marmoush, Eintracht Frankfurt German player, scheduled for his finger, in coordination with his club.

Hassan also pointed to the return of Mohamed El-Shennawy, goalkeeper of Al-Ahly and the Egyptian national team, to the squad after recovering from injury, pointing out that El-Shenawy is considered the best in Egypt in his position.

Hassan denied statements attributed to Hossam Hassan indicating that the Egyptian league did not produce players capable of joining the national team, explaining that the real comment was referring to the lack of new talents in recent times.
