70 militants from Boko Haram, which is classified as a terrorist organization, were killed during a military operation carried out by the Chadian army in the Lake Chad region.
The operation, known as “Lake Sante 2,” was launched last April, carried out by a “commando” group from the Chadian Rapid Action Force.
The operation, which included joint forces from Nigeria, Niger and Cameroon, resulted in the surrender of a number of militants and the arrest of others, in addition to the dismantling of five camps and the destruction of eight explosive-laden vehicles that were in the possession of the terrorist group.
A statement by the Chadian army indicated that a large-scale attack was carried out by the Nigerian army, with the support of the joint force, against members of “Boko Haram” in Borno state overlooking Lake Chad, which prompted the factions affiliated with the “Boko Haram” movement to retreat towards Chadian territory, where a unit directed them to “ “Commandos” of the Chadian Rapid Intervention Force “a devastating blow.”
