Vadim Kovalev, head of Russia’s presidential election observation headquarters in Moscow, announced that about 200,000 residents of the capital voted online on Friday night.
Russia allowed online voting to be used for the first time in presidential elections in only a third of the country’s regions for security reasons.
Polling stations opened their doors to voters for the second day, with more than 114 million Russians taking part in elections at home and abroad.
Four candidates are competing in this election: President Vladimir Putin as an independent candidate, LDP candidate Leonid Slutsky, Russian Communist Party candidate Nikolai Kharitonov, and New People’s Party candidate Vladislav Davankov.
