Eighteen people, including eight security personnel, were killed in armed attacks in western South Sudan, as announced by the acting governor of the Western Bahr el Ghazal state to the French Press Agency.
Children, women, and the elderly were among the civilians killed, the official said, noting that they died by burning because they could not escape, explaining that more than two thousand people were displaced from the place.
According to the local official, armed youths from neighboring Warrap state set fire to a local market, houses, and a police station over a land dispute.
At least 39 people were killed last week and 53 wounded in battles between two groups of herders from neighboring central states.
