Armenian police arrested 137 demonstrators in the capital, Yerevan, on Monday, after they blocked the streets in protest against their government, the Interior Ministry announced.

These protests come as part of a series that has been continuing since last April, with demonstrators demanding the departure of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

Protesters mobilize weekly in Yerevan, demanding that the current leader step down due to his plans to hand over 4 abandoned villages to Azerbaijan.

Archbishop Bagrat Galestanyan is leading these protests, which began as a protest against the border settlement with Azerbaijan after the end of the war.

The demonstrations developed after the aforementioned villages were handed over to demands for Pashinyan to resign from his position.

It should be noted that Azerbaijan took control of the Nagorno-Karabakh region last year after a long conflict with the Armenians, which led to the displacement of thousands of Armenian residents to Armenia.
