A strange cloud appeared in the Moroccan Outat El Haj’s sky stirring great waves of astonishment on social media platforms.

Residents of the city of Pullman documented a rare cloud shaping over the region, expressing their astonishment at this unique phenomenon.

A number of activists in the area affirmed that the photos documenting the “rare” clouds are real, and that they were taken from Outat El Haj, where clouds with such shapes, known as “lenticular clouds’ ‘, appeared.

According to the “Arab Weather” website, lenticular clouds usually form due to terrain reasons.

The site mentioned that as the air moves along the Earth’s surface, it may encounter some obstacles and the natural terrain of the Earth (such as mountains or hills), or artificial structures (such as buildings). These obstacles disrupt the flow of air, causing its movement to turn into vortices, and spots of turbulence are formed at these obstacles.

These also appear sometimes in the upper layers of the atmosphere, and are visible when exposed to sunlight in a certain way. This creates a halo around the sun or moon.

Lenticular clouds are a beautiful optical phenomenon which reflect light in a distinctive way, causing a unique visual effect in the sky.

The formation of these lenticular clouds is one of the signs of turbulence in the air and waves around the mountains. These waves can exist after clouds, and may continue even when clouds are not forming.
