Oil production in Tunisia fell 10% year-on-year in January, according to official data released on Saturday.
Data released by the Tunisian National Energy Observatory showed that the volume of oil production in the country fell to about 0.13 million tons of oil equivalent during January, compared to about 0.14 million tons during the same period of the previous year.
As for gas liquids, their production decreased by 32% in January compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching about 8,000 tons of oil equivalent.
The report pointed to challenges facing the exploration, production, and development of hydrocarbons in the country, including fluctuations in oil prices in global markets, the health effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, in addition to the decline in natural production in most oil fields.
It should be noted that this decline in production reflects the difficult situation facing the oil industry in Tunisia and requires multiple challenges to overcome the negative repercussions caused by external and internal factors.
