The Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Al-Siddiq Al-Kabir, met with the German Ambassador to Libya, Michael Enmacht, in the capital, Tripoli.
During the meeting, they discussed the role of the Central Bank of Libya in maintaining financial sustainability and supporting transparency through statements and leaflets issued by the Central Bank.
They also discussed the latest developments in the unification of the Central Bank and the developments of the unified budget for 2024, in addition to the possibility of opening the field of training for the cadres of the Central Bank in cooperation with the Bundesbank.
In the same context, Tahar Al-Baour, who is in charge of managing the affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the interim Government of National Unity, and Mikhail Unmacht, urged ways to improve bilateral relations across various sectors.
The governor of the Central Bank of Libya requested the end of last February to complete a unified national budget amid the decline in the value of the Libyan dinar, calling for an end to parallel spending of “unknown origin” in order to preserve the financial sustainability of the state.
Libya’s last unified budget, approved by the Tripoli government as well as parliament, came in early 2021 during an attempt to bring together the country’s rival factions after years of division.
