A United Nations official warned in mid-March that the escalation of violence in the eastern region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo would lead to the displacement of about 250,000 people, describing the situation as an “unprecedented humanitarian crisis.”
The United Nations says it has raised its alert for the possible displacement of some 780,000 people in Mozambique by the ongoing violence there.
