The coach of the Algerian under-20 national team, Yassine Mana, sparked widespread controversy after slapping his players during a match against Tunisia, which ended in favor of the Tunisian team with a score of 3-2.
Activists on social media platforms shared a video showing tensions between members of the Algerian football team and the Tunisian team. The Algerian coach intervened to end the dispute by directing some slaps to his players to calm them down and urge them to resume playing.
Some followers on social media expressed their rejection of this behavior, considering it inconsistent with professional standards, and believed that the coach should be a role model in dealing with his players.
As for the Algerian sports commentator on the “beIN Sports” network, Hafid Derradji, he shared a video clip on his personal Facebook page showing coach Yassine Mana directing slaps to the players.
He commented on the video that it contained “shocking scenes”, stressing that coaches should not hit professional players in domestic and European clubs under any circumstances.
