Algeria coach Yassine Manea has apologised for slapping players during the friendly match against Tunisia.

Cameras caught Manea slapping his players following tensions between the players of the Algerian and Tunisian teams.

Manea expressed his apologies to the players’ families and the Algerian public, acknowledging his mistake and noting that judging the situation requires being on the pitch.

The Algerian coach said in a statement on the official website of the Algerian Federation: “The events almost exceeded the limits of the stadium, and it was my duty to intervene to ensure that sports behavior is not exceeded.”

“I call on those who seek to confuse themselves to witness for themselves the family spirit that prevails in the team.”

“I consider the players of the national team as my sons, and I cannot accept any behavior that violates sports ethics, and I renew my apologies for any inappropriate behavior,” he concluded.

It is noteworthy that the match ended with Algeria losing by two goals to three in the friendly tournament for teams under the age of twenty, which was held on Algerian soil.

Tunisia won the title after drawing with Egypt in the last round 1-1, and Mana took over the coaching of Algeria’s youth from mid-October 2023.
