A Russian court has frozen the accounts of “JPMorgan”, the largest bank in the United States by assets.
The Russian agency “TASS” reported that the court in the Russian province of Leningrad issued the decision to freeze the accounts as a precautionary measure, after the Russian bank “VTP” filed a lawsuit against “JPMorgan”.
The decision was issued to freeze $439.5 million, the same amount claimed by” VTB” in its case against the U.S. bank.
The move comes as a result of “JPMorgan’s” $439.5 million freeze on “VTB”, citing sanctions imposed by the United States on Russia over the Ukraine crisis.
These actions by the US authorities prompted the Russian bank to take legal action to counter the freezing of its assets.
