Morocco has announced the creation of its first industrial zone dedicated to the manufacture of electric vehicle batteries.
Industry and Trade Minister Riyad Mazour revealed that the area is 283 hectares and will receive three initial investments worth 24 billion dirhams ($ 2.3 billion) and will create 4,000 jobs.
Mazour added that this is the first time that an industrial zone has been established in the Kingdom dedicated to the manufacture of electric batteries.
The Moroccan minister revealed the first investments that have begun to be implemented on the ground, pointing to the existence of a joint venture between the Chinese company CNGR and the African private investment fund Al Mada, based in Morocco.
The industrial zone is located near the OCP Group Industrial Park, and activities include the mining, mechanical, electrical, electronics and automotive industries.
The project is expected to contribute to the development of the local economy and create thousands of jobs, benefiting local communities.
