The Deterrence Service for Combating Terrorism and Organized Crime announced the filing of a smuggling operation, the largest of its kind this year, through which large quantities of hashish were seized.

The deterrence agency explained that the targeting operation toppled this cell, which moved from the east of the country until it was caught in the city of Tarhuna in flagrante delicto.

During its seizure, the cell was transporting more than a thousand kilograms of hashish drugs and hiding tightly inside a truck dedicated to transporting foodstuffs with a quantity of boxes of cooking oil unfit for human use.

The arrested cell members confessed to inferring their intention to transport these drugs to the capital Tripoli from the eastern city of Tobruk before they were intercepted and seized by members of the agency.
