In a statement, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) revealed its forecast for economic growth in Algeria in 2024, stressing that real growth of the economy will remain strong at 3.8%.
Despite Algeria’s positive near-term outlook, inflation remains a concern, the statement added.
Current estimates show Algeria’s economy growing by 4.2% in 2023, thanks to a recovery in hydrocarbon production and positive performance in the industrial, construction and services sectors.
After concluding its discussions with Algeria under Article IV of its founding agreement, the IMF said it expects the strong growth of the Algerian economy in 2024 to continue at 3.8%, supported by large fiscal spending.
With regard to Algeria’s medium-term economic prospects, the IMF stressed that it depends on efforts to diversify the economy and attract private investment, which faces multiple and diverse risks.
