Athletic Bilbao’s joy at winning the Copa del Rey on Saturday was mixed with terrifying moments after one of the billboards fell as a result of a stampede of fans.
The circulating video showed the moment the painting fell and a quick intervention from the organizers, as no injuries were recorded because the painting fell very close to the pitch.

Athletic restored their history by winning the Copa del Rey for the twenty-fourth time, after forty years since their last title win in 1984, when they faced repeated disappointments in six previous finals of the tournament.
Athletic Bilbao secured a thrilling 4-2 penalty shootout win over Real Mallorca, with 23-year-old goalkeeper Julen Aguirizabala blocking a decisive penalty.
Dani Rodriguez shared the goals for Mallorca in the 21st minute before Sunset equalized for Bilbao in the 50th minute.
Athletic Bilbao’s Nicolas Williams said: “We made history,” in an expression of the club’s return to victory.
