A technical committee of the International Federation “FIFA” visited Morocco on Thursday to inspect its large stadium and other sports facilities, and its readiness to host the 2030 World Cup in partnership with Spain and Portugal.

Members of the FIFA committee attended the match between Kawkab Marrakech and Hassania Agadir on Thursday, in the round of 32 of the Throne Cup, before visiting a number of stadiums and sports facilities in the city of Marrakech.

They also visited a new stadium built in Rabat and the Prince Moulay Abdellah sports complex, which has been expanded to about 80,000 seats.

The FIFA committee praised the progress of work on the Grand Stadium in Tangier, considering it a sign of Morocco’s commitment to prepare all selected stadiums to host the World Cup matches ahead of schedule.

The committee is expected to visit other stadiums in the coming days in Fez, Casablanca, Rabat, and Agadir.

The committee will verify Morocco’s readiness and compliance with the nomination criteria by reviewing ports, airports, train stations, hospitals, road networks, communication networks and hotels.

The Moroccan government decided to renovate six main stadiums and their ancillary facilities, including the Tangier Grand Stadium, the Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca, the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, the Marrakech Grand Stadium, the Fez Composite Stadium, and the Agadir Grand Stadium.

A new stadium will also be built in the city of Ben Slimane, some 38 kilometres from Casablanca, as part of preparations to host the 2030 World Cup and the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
