The chaos of the militias in western Libya continues, between clashes between them as part of their struggle for power, or their attack on anyone who demands their solution and an end to the state of security chaos.

The city of Aljamil, 100 km west of the Libyan capital Tripoli, witnessed armed clashes between the city’s residents and groups from the city of Zawiya, which resulted in the injury of about 10 people and the setting fire to property and cars of citizens.

This came after the people and municipalities of Aljamil, Manshiyya, Raqdalin and Zaltan announced that they would enter into a complete sit-in in all civil institutions and close all the outlets of their cities, until the Ministry of Interior puts an urgent and final solution to the undisciplined armed formations and the security abuses that are taking place.

The people went out in mass demonstrations demanding the exit of the armed formations, chanting slogans rejecting the militias and raising banners reading ” Aljamil will not bow to the militias,” and demanding the application of the law and the restoration of security and stability to the city.

In this context, the Libyan Attorney General, Al-Siddiq Al-Sur, met with a delegation from the city of Gemayel, headed by the mayor of the municipality, the director of security, the city’s elders, and dignitaries, in the presence of the Attorney General within the scope of the Zawiya Court of Appeal.

The delegation briefed the Attorney General on the circumstances of the incidents that took place in the city this week, stressing the need to prosecute the perpetrators of the attacks.

In turn, the National Consensus Bloc of the State Consultative Council held the outgoing “National Unity” government, headed by Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh , responsible for the security chaos in the city of Aljamil, pointing out in a statement that it affected the homes, cars, and properties of safe citizens, and caused one of them to be seriously injured.

Former Deputy Chairman of the Transitional Council, Abdul Hafiz Ghoga, commented on the events, saying: “The clashes in Aljamil will not be the last confrontations among armed groups as long as the security apparatus remains fragmented. What we have seen, along with the rest of the world, in Tripoli on several occasions is that there are formations that formally fall under Dbeibeh’s control and his Chief of Staff, but in reality, they only follow the orders of their leaders.”
